WORKING WITH BAMBOO
Bamboo canes can be connected in many different ways. Most techniques use rope and/or threaded ends. But more advanced methods, such as the fish-mouth connection or peg-and-hole connection, are also possible.
Of course, you can also screw down the bamboo stick. Here we recommend always pre-drilling to minimise the risk of cracks.
Cutting bamboo is best done with a Japanese saw. This special bamboo saw has small sharp teeth that allow you to cut easily, quickly and precisely.
If you wish to place bamboo sticks in the ground, we recommend applying Bamboo Ground Protector to the part to be placed in the ground. This special black coating preserves the bamboo and protects it from rot.
PROPERTIES
Each bamboo pole is unique. Colour differences and variations in the width of the bamboo canes are normal for this natural product. Vertical cracking is also a natural property of the material. Especially in the hot and dry months of the year, vertical cracks can appear in bamboo. In humid and cold weather, the cracks are smaller than in dry and hot weather. The cracking of bamboo does not directly affect its lifespan.
A natural property of bamboo poles is that the canes are thicker at the base than at the top. The gradient of the bamboo canes depends on the bamboo species and the length of the cane. Bamboo is a natural product, therefore bamboo poles are never 100% straight and there may be colour differences between them.

MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING
After installing the Bamboo Stick Guadua, you can apply our Bamboo Protector. A specially developed colorless/transparent stain that protects the bamboo from tarnish and discoloration. With outdoor use bamboo will gray and discolor, just like any natural material. We therefore recommend to treat bamboo annually, preferably in spring, with our Bamboo Renovator, a specially developed stain that protects the bamboo and restores the color. Bamboo Renovator is easy to apply to cleaned bamboo using a brush. When doing so, use thin layers and spread Bamboo Renovator well. For cleaning bamboo you can use our Bamboo Cleaner. Possibly with stubborn dirt / deposits bamboo can also be sprayed off with a high pressure cleaner. But at an appropriate distance to avoid damage.A SHINY RESULT
There is also an alternative maintenance product available. Bamboo Booster. BambooBooster is a natural oil that can easily be applied with a Maintenance Cloth. With this oil you get a nice shiny result. The oil protects and nourishes the bamboo, but does not slow down the process of discoloration. Bamboo Booster can be applied several times a year for optimal results. The oil can only not be combined with our Bamboo Protector and Bamboo Renovator stain.Sustainability is very important to us.
