A beautiful pergola for creating a cozy spot in the garden or on the terrace. The pergola is made of the bamboo species Guadua. This is the strongest bamboo species available and originates from Colombia. Our Bamboo Pergola Guadua comes as a kit, including fasteners. The Bamboo Pergola Guadua is available in several standard sizes and further customizable.
The Bamboo Pergola Guadua is suitable for climbing plants to grow against. The roof of the pergola can be covered with straw roofs or bamboo mats for a beautiful, tropical look or a shaded area. Finally, manila rope can be used to wrap the joints to give the pergola a very exclusive look.
For the most stable placement of the pergola, we recommend fixing it on post holders or securing it into the ground. The required post holders and M8 bolts and nuts can easily be ordered along. When securing in the ground, we recommend treating the part that goes into the ground with our Ground Protector to prevent mold and rot.
Each pergola bamboo pole is unique. Color differences and variations in the width of the bamboo poles are normal with this natural product. Vertical cracking is also a natural characteristic of the material. Especially in the hot and dry months of the year, vertical cracks can appear in bamboo. In humid and cold weather, the cracks are smaller than in dry and hot weather. The cracking of the bamboo does not affect the life of the pergola.
The diameter of each bamboo pole varies. A natural characteristic of bamboo poles is that they are thicker at the base than at the top. The gradient of bamboo poles depends on the bamboo species and the length of the pole. The Guadua bamboo poles have almost no taper. The discoloration of the bamboo poles will happen and eventually they will gray, this is a natural process. In autumn, the leaves fall from the trees and everything outside becomes gray and whimsical. With bamboo, the same thing can happen and the bamboo canes may start to show dark colors. This is due to moisture deposits, it is best to leave this as it is until spring begins again.
You can clean the pergola with a pressure washer or treat it with our Bamboo Cleaner. Then treat the pergola with our Bamboo Renovator and it will be as good as new.

Bamboo & Environment
The use of bamboo greatly reduces the greenhouse effect and climate change. Bamboo absorbs greenhouse gases and releases 35% more oxygen into the atmosphere than an equivalent species of hardwood. This is due to its high growth rate and photosynthesis. Climate change has been an issue for several years, which is why bamboo could be included as a certified hardwood. Bamboo is also suitable for biomass production because it gives the second highest biomass on earth.
Bamboo & Cracks
A natural characteristic of bamboo is that cracks may appear vertically, this cannot be prevented. These are caused by differences in climate and humidity.
If you treat the bamboo poles with an oil or lacquer, the number of cracks will be less than if you do not apply a protective layer. But unfortunately this cannot be prevented 100%. The cracks can expand and shrink depending on the climate.

Of course forests are planted, but the annual net loss of forest is over 7 million hectares, which is more than twice the area of Belgium. If those forests were not cut down, up to a quarter less CO2 would be released into the air.
